Jacob Barber is an independent musician known for his dreamy, retro-inspired sound. A founding member of acts such as Dream Seer, Bad Habit, The Aventurines, and Melody Machine, and has remained rooted in the worlds of garage rock and psychedelia across his projects. Since he began releasing solo records in 2018, he has drawn heavy inspiration from the experimental sounds of the '60s, self-producing all of his music to maintain a raw, authentic vibe. With five albums released and a sixth on the way, Jacob’s sound blends vintage tones with modern influences, taking listeners on a journey through unique, nostalgic soundscapes.

Bringing this sonic vision to life on stage, Jacob performs live with members of the band Melody Machine. His live band features Daphne Hibma on keyboard and backing vocals, Matt Simic on drums, and Taylor Pevec on bass and backing vocals. Together, they translate the textured layers of his recordings into an immersive, high energy live experience, capturing the spirit of his music with dynamic arrangements and rich, collaborative chemistry.

WHYGO, Originally from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia, now based in Kingston, Ontario, WHYGO is a three piece alternative rock band with versatility, taking inspiration from genres such as blues, soul, classical, metal and virtually anything in between. Consisting of Bass, Drums, Guitar and three unique vocalists, WHYGO uses their tight knit chemistry as a weapon when authoring heartfelt poeticism and composing graceful yet thrashing epics, all with the  deliverance and edge that the world has come to crave when they hear the words "power trio.”

Drink-182 is the world’s best and most authentic Blink-182 homage group. They formed in 2015 and have played throughout Canada to packed out rooms, Filling crowds with nostalgia and filling bar tills with dollar bills. Drink-182 strives on representing the most accurate depiction of Blink-182, from replicating Blink’s current set list, to clothing, to instrument and stage set up.

MEMBERS:

Guillaume was born in 1990, picking up drums at ten after discovering Blink-182’s Enema of the State. He spent the following years meticulously studying Travis Barker’s playing and drumming in over a dozen bands throughout highschool. In 2008, his band opened for the Backstreet boys for the Asia leg of their Unbreakable Tour. In 2015, he joined The Brains and went on to tour internationally with acts like NOFX, Millencolin, Simple Plan, The Darkness, Avatar, The Reverend Horton Heat and Taking Back Sunday. In 2017, he also officially joined The Mahones, and has since toured with The Dropkick Murphys, Stiff Little Fingers, Agnostic Front, The Damned, Suicidal Tendencies, UK Subs, Sick of It All,Blue Rodeo, The Defects, Madball and Against Me. He joined Drink-182 in 2024.

Eric picked up the guitar at 16, inspired by Blink 182’s early VHS home videos. This would be the foundation for a lifelong passion and a headfirst deep-dive into the world of punk-rock, playing his first show and entering the studio for the first time that same year. Eric’s songwriting accumens have been evidenced in genres as wide ranging as pop and metal in various projects since then. He joined Drink-182 in 2016, handling production and promotion on top of his guitar and vocal duties. His attention to details and drive for absolute authenticity drives Drink-182’s ethic.

Mike picked up the bass at 18, and shortly thereafter the drums as well. Initially drawn to grunge, metal and rock, he dove headfirst into punk rock in 2013, inspired by Blink 182. In 2015, he formed Drink-182 and went on to play hundreds of shows across the regional Quebec scene- honing his craft and continually striving to present the best Blink-182 homage show in town. He also plays for Vicieux & Delicieux and Never on Thursday alongside his longtime friend, Eric. He is credited for 2 full length albums and several EPs with those projects.

Ghetto Xpress
Jul

Ghetto Xpress

The ” Ghetto Xpress ” was formed in October of the year 2000, in response for the need of a new house band at the Toucan on Monday nights, a gig previously occupied by Kingston blues stalwarts Blue Monday for the previous 2 1/2 years. Blue Monday members Zak Colbert and Mike Sakell, decided to continue on with a different band and a change of concept, and formed the Express. With keyboard wizard Spencer Evans throwing his hat in, and the addition of a fresh new face on guitar, James Taylor, the band was complete. The original repertoire focused heavily on the sounds of Motown, and classic R&B, but with the addition of Jonathan Stewart a.k.a ” Bunny ” on tenor saxophone a few years ago, the band took a decidedly more funky New Orleans type approach. Zak and James eventually left the band to be replaced by Zak’s young protege, Alec Barken, on bass, and Mark Taras on guitar, and that has been the lineup for the last eight years.

Known for sharing the stage with musical friends who drop by now and then, many touring acts with a night off in Kingston, manage to find their way to the stage and sit in with the band. Some of the notable ones include, Colin James, the Blue man group band, Sarah Harmer, Ryan Lewis, and members of Trooper to name just a few. You never know who’s going to show up when Ghetto Xpress hits the stage.

This band is one of those “must see ” acts, so next time you hear about one of their shows, make sure to get out and see them,or sit in with them, and remember to keep on truckin….

SPRING REVERB FESTIVAL // THE MERINGUES + CHINESE MEDICINE + BRICKIE

THE MERINGUES Kingston, ON
At the core of this Kingston, Ontario based group, described by some music industry observers as the epitome of the post-punk revival, are the duelling lead vocals of Amanda Pants and Ted Evans. They have a torrid, almost theatrically manic partnership, infused with a broiling tension that gives each stage performance a delightful unpredictability and emotional intensity that enthralls audiences. A Meringues show is must-see, as the band tears through each song, seeming in constant danger of going off the rails.

CHINESE MEDICINE Toronto, ON
Chinese Medicine is a punk rock band from Toronto, influenced heavily by ‘80s and modern post-punk music. Their 2021 EP Die Aspora launched their career, and they have only grown since then, being featured on CBC Music's “9 2SLGBTQIA+ Canadian musicians to listen to in 2023.” Their live shows are known for their explosive and politically charged energy.

BRICKIE Montreal, QC
Brickie makes loud, noisy, fun, melodic, sad punk-ish/hard-power-pop songs to jump around and shout along to. For fans of: PUP, Cloud Nothings, Prince Daddy and the Hyena, The Dirty Nil, Joyce Manor, The Menzingers, Jeff Rosenstock. Guitarist/Singer Luke Ottenhof hails from Kingston!

SPRING REVERB FESTIVAL // GOOD CO. + CARLO + GRAVEN

GOOD CO. KINGSTON, ON
Good Co. is an Alt-Country band from Kingston, Ontario. What began as a solo songwriting project by Cody Allen James has evolved into a bonafide country rock outfit founded on a simple principle: write good songs and play them well. While they, of course, draw from the masters of the craft: Bob Dylan, John Prine, Gram Parsons, and The Rolling Stones, Good Co. has also been unavoidably influenced by more contemporary artists such as Neutral Milk Hotel, Deer Tick, and Demon’s Claws to name a few.\

CARLO TORONTO, ON
Carlo is comprised of guitarist James Taylor, keyboardist Kelsey McNulty, bassist Scott McCannell, and current drummer Justin Rupple. After releasing a debut EP in 2015, the band members pursued other projects out of the sheer joy they have writing and performing what could be termed a very specially form of rock and roll. Of course, that’s part of the challenge too, adding their distinctive slant to well-established sounds.

GRAVEN OTTAWA, ON
GRAVEN (Matty McKechnie) is an independent folk-rock singer-songwriter from Ottawa, Canada. An innovative Nepean-born songmaker with a key focus on cultivating joy and wonder in Canadian geography, Matty (Graven) is a wiley wordsmith whose passion is to create a highly accepting and inclusive community of music lovers.

Inspired by modern and classic blues, the Kingston, Ontario quartet Hellhound Trail formed in 2017 around the talents of Brandon Amey (guitar), Mat McAllister (drums), Matt Aylsworth (bass), and Jeff Dunn (vocals/guitar). Their blend of cutting blues, classic rock, and expressive soul delights listeners in a variety of settings, from an intimate brewery to larger venues. Hellhound Trail is highly influenced by the blues greats like Muddy Waters, Lightnin’ Hopkins and BB King with a smattering of newer modern blues influences like Alabama Shakes and The Black Keys with hints of 90 alt rock mixed in. Hellhound Trail have been extremely busy in the Kingston area and are one of Kingston’s best local acts.

Willy Nilly

  • The Toucan & Kirkpatrick's (map)
  • Google Calendar ICS

An alt(ish)-rock(ish) band pulling from contemporary alternative and some early 2010s, Willy Nilly's influences don't just end there. Similar bands become harder and harder to point to the more you listen to Willy Nilly's wide ranging and growing discography. Members have changed around singer/songwriter Owen Fullerton since the band's birth in 2019, but the lyrically dense, vulnerable songwriting has remained at the center of the band's upbeat but laid back sound. They released their debut album in 2021 and are looking to release the newest full length in 2023.
